Tender, August 2025

On Display at Elle Gallery, August 2025

When I need to feed my soul, I go for a hike. I walk through the forest and I drink in the green, I revel in the aliveness of everything around me, and I tap into the flow state that fuels my creative work. Lately, this process has led me to consider - how can we be gentler to ourselves, with each other, and to the earth? Tender is a collection of paintings inspired by hikes taken during wildflower season in the Columbia River Gorge and at Mt. Hood. I focused on the soft textures of abundant wildflowers, dancing and filling the landscape with delight. I wanted to make pieces that felt like fabric - each an impression of a small section of a view that continues on without limit beyond the bounds of the canvas.

In the Wake of Winter, May 2025

On View at Antler & Talon Galleries

This collection is a little bit memory, and a little bit dream. Initially inspired by a late summer backpacking trip in Eastern Oregon’s Wallowa Mountains in 2024, I painted all of these pieces as winter turned to spring in 2025. I was looking back on photos I’d taken in the backcountry, and dreaming of warmer, softer days to come. Late summer is such a special, nostalgic time of year to me - that fleeting moment after the snow has melted in the mountains and lush meadows come alive with what feels like an impossible number of wildflowers. In this collection, I focused on capturing the vibrancy of life flourishing in this alpine environment, celebrating the resilience and beauty that thrives through extreme seasons. I hope these pieces serve as a reminder to pause and notice the moments when we’re thriving, and have patience when it is not our season to bloom.

“Go Gently” is a celebration of the feeling of flow state - a connection to the seemingly effortless burst of wildflowers thriving in summer in the mountains, and the feeling that my favorite paintings are the ones that are made gently, with joy.

Go Play Outside, October 2023

On View at Cosmic Bliss Scoop Shop, October 2023

I know that humans always find a way to adapt, to survive. Even during war, during pandemics, in the midst of the biggest disasters in human history, people continue to dance, to make art, to fall in love. There are plenty of questions to consider in this moment, but I want to know: if I live until the year 2070, will I still be able to find peace in the woods? If I have grandchildren, will they be able to climb to the top of a mountain and still stand in awe of what they see there?

Go Play Outside is both a celebration of the great outdoors and a call to action. Utilizing bright, warm colors and expressive brush strokes, this body of work aims to convey the sense of wonder and joy I feel when spending time outside, while exploring my anxieties around what we stand to lose as the climate crisis worsens during my lifetime. My hope is that these pieces encourage others to play outside a little more, and to take action to ensure that future generations can, too.
